A Portland Oregon Web Design Firms Perspective On Google Pay Per Click
That is a mouthful and that statement may raise the feathers on a few professionals that specialize in managing PPC for companies but let me take the time to explain my position. Furthermore I will also outline my background in the Internet marketing arena so as to give some credence to my opinion.
Google Pay Per Click certainly has its place in the Internet marketing arena. It serves its function for startup companies that need and require immediate Internet traffic to drive sales. And providing their budget is large enough it can do just that. You can bid high and maintain a ranking in the PPC ads at the top of the page in Google for any given keyword phrase.
Google PPC is advertising, every month the cash outlay continues. Google PPC is not a good investment in your business though. There is a far better way to market your website on the Internet. I personally advocate Search Engine Optimization and an optimized web design as a viable option that will benefit your website and business in the long run. SEO is an investment that will continue to drive new customers to your front door year after year.
As a good example I will offer a case study of one of my existing clients. In 2009 I developed a new company website for a specialized motor carrier that transported yachts nationwide. When we first made contact the company had a budget of $1800.00 a month dedicated to Google Pay Per Click. We designed them a new website in Joomla CMS.
This new website was fully optimized for the Internet from conception. When the new website was launched our customer chose to participate in our off page optimization campaigns. This involved developing quality relevant in content textural links to their website. This cost them $450.00 per month for 6 months. After 4 months their website totally dominated the Internet and their industry for the keyword phrases we were marketing. Within 6 months they were in the position to discontinue their PPC advertising campaign all together. We continue to this day sporadically participating in a link building campaign to develop fresh inbound links.
As a note I would also like to add that their booking agents noticed immediately that the new contact they were receiving form the organic search engines was of higher quality than the contact generated from Google PPC. This meant that the customers that were generated by their ranking in the organic search engines delivered serious shoppers, their conversion ratio was better. As an investment in your company and website we recommend developing an optimized website and participating in a link building campaign as a alternative to feeding the machine-Google!
